This summer, when my family and I were away, we heard a bobcat at night. It was not confirmed by professionals, but we did confirm they were in the area! I was awake, searching the web for recording and comparing to sounds. The next morning, I started sculpting this bobcat!
Raku is a special firing process involving oxygen reduction. After being bisque-fired, glazed with specially formulated glazes, then heated again to 1850°, this piece was tossed red-hot into a reduction chamber. Where it was engulfed by hot flames, the color is different than the areas that were not touched. The process is chaotic and unpredictable, resulting in amazing, magical color combinations. The finish is a living surface. It will change with time. Keep this away from the sun to keep it as bright as long as possible.
